We can make backing boards in Iroko, Oak or Sapele to almost any size. We suggest making the backing board 20mm or 25mm larger than the plaque. Holes are drilled for fixing underneath the area of the plaque. Oak and Sapele backing boards are usually treated with a commercial satin varnish, whereas the iroko backing boards are oiled. For a completely different look, we can paint the backing boards – usually black. We use Accoya wood for painted boards.

Corian is available in several stone colours along with a yellow and a green. It is 12mm thick and fixing holes will be drilled under where the plaques goes. It looks quite effective with a plaque engraved the same colour as the backing board.
Metal Tree Stakes and Plaque Holders
Wrought Iron Tree Stakes
Our simplest tree stake is a wrought iron tree stake made by our blacksmith. These are first galvanised and npormally painted black, although we could paint in other colours too. The size is 20″ to the bend and 5″ above the bend. There are two holes to screw it to a backing board. They are ideal for smaller plaques. The cost is £21.95.
If you do not want to use a backing board we do have a wrought iron tree stake with a metal plate attached. Plaques can be attached to the plate with outdoor double-sided tape. We have a range of sizes available for this option.

Wrought Iron Plaque Holders

As they are hand made by our blacksmith, it is possible to change sizes. The two standard sizes are as follows:-
Large – 1.17m high for a backing board no less than 250mm high – £104.45

Angle Iron Tree Stake
These tree stakes are larger than the wrought iron ones ant they are for plaques which are at least 100mm high. They are 596mm high and have a tilted face which is 50mm x 100mm with holes for mounting the plaque. They are made from angle iron which is powder-coated for a longer life. They also come with a pin which can be used to re-enforce the stake when mounted in concrete. Cost £39.95

Our carpenters can make wooden posts to almost any size from various timbers – Oak, Iroko or painted hardwood. We found that a simple tree stake could be made by cutting the top of a 3″x 3″ post at 45 degrees and fixing it to a wooden memorial plaque or a wooden backing board using dowels. Since no metal is used these are also ideal for green burial sites.
A 600mm tall post including dowels and fitting is £47.85. For plaques or backing boards over 350mm, you would need two posts which would be £92.50.

Tree Stake With Backing Board
This is an all in one budget backing board and tree stake made in Sapele wood. The size of the backing board is 125mm x 175mm which is suitable for a plaque 150mm x 100mm. The size of the tree stake is 475mm x 40mm x 20mm.

Shaped Wooden Tree Stake
This is a shaped wooden front-fixed tree stake sold without a backing board. They can be made from oak, iroko or sapele wood. They are strong but only suitable for backing boards and not wooden plaques.
There are two sizes:-
Large – 575mm – for boards up to 200 x 250mm £27.95
Small – 475mm – for boards up to 125 x 175mm £15.95
Back Fixed Wooden Tree Stake
These tree stakes are back fixed so can be used with a backing board or tree stake.. We can attach them to a backing board, wooden memorial plaque or supply them alone with holes drilled and fixing screws. For long plaques you can use two tree stakes.
